Our Programs

Read2Succeed
Read2Succeed is a reading mastery program that utilizes interactive methods to customize learning for individual student needs. Each student is independently evaluated for their reading and fluency levels. Students engage in a variety of activities within the program to increase their reading grade level and proficiency. TEEM offers Read2Succeed through the schools as a supplemental program within the school day.

African American Youth Heritage Day
African American Youth Heritage Day (AAYHD) is TEEM’s annual event bringing high school students from Pima County to a day of workshops and activities. Students learn about careers and actions that encourage and support college attendance as well as alternative paths to success. This event is held in February during Black History Month and brings hundreds of students the opportunity to see avenues of success for African American Youth.

SAFE Program
The Summer Academics Foundations for Enrichment Program combines activities to prevent summer learning loss. The program runs each week in June on Saturday mornings. Students in grades 3-12 may engage in computer-based programs and hands-on activities. STEM/STEAM is strongly supported. Students enhance reading, math and science proclivity. SAFE Registration opens in the spring.

HBCU Tours
TEEM offers two Historical Black College & University Tours annually, one for Middle School students during spring break and one for High School students during the Thanksgiving break. The tours focus on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Students experience guided tours of HBCU campuses, have opportunities to submit college applications, and engage in campus and regional cultural activities. HBCU Tours is a program that involves preparation by the student participants. Preparation classes are part of the registration process. Students may earn scholarships to assist with the cost of the tour, or may fundraise for themselves. These options are part of the HBCU Tours preparation.

S.M.I.L.E.
The SMILE Program provides college preparation tools and information to middle and high school families. Students learn how to successfully navigate their course of study. Families learn to plan and optimize college and career options. Participation in the SMILE Program may come from schools directly or as family requests to the schools. This is a free program offered by TEEM as needed – “See the need, feed the need”
